THE URBAN LUNCH ON THE GRASS

September 2013
Plac Kolegiacki | Poznań.

The summer vacation is over but the memories of countryside’s picnics are still vivid in our heads. September is the last moment to organize them. One would like to once again pack the backpack and visit the wildlife. For majority of us it is impossible to leave because of our work and schools. Therefore during PARK(ing) Day Kasia Zareba wants to invite the nature to come to the city. PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks.

For busy urban residents she designed a miniature garden where everyone is invited to lunch. Guests of the picnic-bar can season their sandwiches with fresh herbs and tomatoes growing on and next to the table. This installation corresponds perfectly with the busy lifestyle of city-dwellers who do not normally have time for enjoying the nature. In the public parks often you can find signs "keep off the grass". Picnic-bar allows to enjoy the garden experience without worried about the prohibition signs of trampling the lawn.
